I would say I prepared as much as I could with exception of not having enough row cover (AG 19) for my Fall sown Ranunculus. Due to this, I used traditional green plant covers and so far, I would say those beds received the most damage. The good news is even for those plants that received damage I’m hopeful their roots did not freeze so they will still grow, and bloom come Spring. They may be a bit late or not produce as many blooms, but ALIVE! Which is the most important part! This guy came to visit and tried to eat my Gardenia bushes! The aggressive tapping on the window did NOT faze him at all. It was only once my husband opened the front door did, he finally run off. We put out censored sprinklers in our front flower beds after all danger of frost is good for this very reason. We have a lot of deer in our area, and they will destroy a garden within hours. I basically had 1 week to prep everything while in parallel keeping everything misted consistently to ensure the greenery was kept as fresh as possible for it to last long into the New Year. Creating these wreaths were a MAJOR labor of love. It took hours to divide the large branches of fir trees to then bunch them together to ultimately assembling them onto the base grapevine wreaths. Not to mention the effort behind adding the decoration and bells. I am forever grateful you loved them this season, along with my Gomphrena ornaments and sold me out before noon! My first season was overall amazing. I hit all my goals between markets, pop-ups and events hosted. I’m so excited about 2026 and what I make happen with my flower farm. The one I created last season turned out great and it lasted throughout the season into the New Year! So, this year I’m taking the leap and have decided to sell my wreaths at a local farmers market in December. I’m imagining 10-12 wreaths/swags in varying sizes, a few small ornaments with dried gomphrena and a booth so festive it will make your season bright! I must say last season my trees direct on my property were the perfect combination for the base of the wreath. I simply added pine and magnolia as accents with bells which looked great! Creating these wreaths takes several hours for the base plus adding in all the extra festive details. But in the end, having a real wreath hung spreading holiday cheer is so worth it! While walking throughout my sandy 1-acre lot to harvest greens to my surprise I couldn’t help but notice trees filled with juniper berries and pollen! Can you imagine?! A nice berry blue or pollen yellow wreath ready to bring holiday cheer to a customer near you! Ugh! It’s November?! How can there be pollen already! So that’s my current debacle. Brainstorming and getting creative with where I can harvest several buckets of cedar/juniper for the base of my 10-12 wreaths/swags in the next 2 weeks, so I still have time to create each one before the holiday market mid-December. I know I will figure something out it’s just not the best timing for berries and pollen, you know? This one shown is my new favorite and took me several hours to create. The bells add the perfect touch of festive yet vintage/organic look.
